A single All-India entrance examination for Engineering

Well, this will come out as good news for Science students in India who plan to be engineers. All the directors of IIT (Indian Institute of Technology) have now made a committee which plans to conduct a single entrance examination conducted throughout India for admissions in engineering colleges.

If this proposal is accepted, then students, which have to undertake different examinations like IIT-JEE ( IIT Joint Entrance Examination)and AIEEE (All India Engineering Entrance Examination) which is conducted by CBSE, will now have to take only one exam.

According to S.C. Saxena, director IIT-Roorkee, this new exam will be more focused on the analytical skills of the student and will also give weightage to the class 12 board marks, so that students take Class 12 seriously.

This is to correct the fact that students ignore Class 12 results and concentrate more on preparing for different entrance examinations which is very common these days because there is no weightage for Class 12 marks.

This move has been hailed by many students, which say that this will reduce the pressure of giving different examination.

On the other hand there are a few who say that this will increase the competition a lot.

Well, it remains to be seen whether this exam will bring relief to the students or increase the pressure further.
